Erik graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Biology. Prior to joining
MDRCBB in his current role, he contributed to the lab on a part time basis since 2016.
Moving forward, Erik will primarily work with company related projects, however, being
trained to analyze surfaces by XPS, fluorescent microscopy, and dynamic water contact
angles he will likely contribute in a minor role to a variety of projects.

Bioinspired Biomaterials and Interfaces
About Us
At the 2BI lab, we embrace multidisciplinarity to create advanced biomaterials for human tissue repair and regeneration in dental, orthopedic and other biomedical applications. Our research expands and exploits knowledge in bio/non-bio interactions and derives inspiration from Nature to incorporate functionality in biomaterial surfaces and tissue interfaces. We nurture an environment that is conducive to learning and train future generations of the brightest biomaterials researchers and clinicians.
We are driven to push the boundaries of biomaterials science and discover transformative bioinspired technologies to effectively prevent and treat prevalent and costly diseases. We strive to contribute to patients’ well being throughout life.
We are members of the Faculty of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona - International University of Catalonia
